Notes:

  1. Should be performed by an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer, unless you have the proper tools, service data and are mechanically qualified
  2. Disassemble, lubricate and inspect every 30,000 miles
  3. Perform annually
  4. Could vary with frequency of operation and riding style

A Harley-Davidson dealer should perform the first scheduled service listed in the owner's manual. See the maintenance and lubrication section in your Owner's manual for more information.

Tool Kit For The Road

With the newer bikes, there are some things that are difficult to repair on the road, but most things being electronic are best left to a professional.

Below I'll try to give you some of the things that would be usefull for a tool kit for the road in case of a breakdown.

Tools

  • Small set of 6 point wrenches.
  • A 10 MM wrench for the battery terminals
  • Spark plug wrench.
  • A 6'' adjustable wrench.
  • Small 3/8 drive socket set, if you have the room.
  • A multi tip screwdriver (2 in 1) phillips and regular on the tips.
  • Set of torx bits (just the bits) preferrably ones that will fit into the multi tip screwdriver handle.
  • Pair of vice grips 6"-8" Or Channel lock pliers.
  • A multi tool of allen keys.(6-10 piece set in one tool).
  • Pair of cutting pliers (side cutters). .
  • A 12 volt test light.
  • A small flashlight that works.

Materials

  • Tubeless tire repair kit with inflator.
  • Spare fuses.
  • A length of plastic tubing for "borrowing" some gas.
  • A dozen or so nylon zip ties.
  • Electrical tape.
  • Some assorted bolts and nuts.
  • A few different size hose clamps.
  • A few feet of safety wire to get you home if a cable breaks.
  • Emergency repair barrel for the clutch cable(has 2 screws that clamp the cable for a temp repair).
  • Some rags to clean up with also a tiny spray can of WD40 to use as a hand cleaner or a lube.

Most important is a cell phone when you find out you can't fix it.

The exciting V-Rod and Street-Rod families are touted as metric, which isn't entirely correct. There's still some legacy fractional items, plus the Motor Company's beloved Torx fasteners. So we designed a kit specifically for the 'Rod that's highly capable using our exclusive PowerDrive wrenches, plus loads of other tools and roadside items - all packed in a durable 600-denier polyester pouch.
